About the Corner
Welcome to the PSW Corner! This special space has been created for anyone who is a front line professional caregiver of persons with dementia or wants to learn more about this very important work. In Ontario we refer to these individuals as Personal Support Workers (PSWs), but there are many other names for this important position, including health care aid, nurses aid, personal attendant, or supportive care assistant. Those of you who are already caring for people with dementia know how rewarding, exciting, exhausting, and important this occupation can be. The more resources you have available to you, the better your ability to do your job with a compassionate person-centred approach. Some of you have taken our 9 hour Enhanced Training for Formal Caregivers of Persons with Dementia. This PSW Corner complements that training and adds to it. There are links to other websites, a place to answer your questions, a place to tell your stories, as well as many new learning opportunities. Special thanks to: The Griggs Family Foundation and the Toronto Fund at the Toronto Community Foundation for supporting the development and implementation of the PSW Corner. and to |
