What does counselling involve?

Counselling provides a safe and confidential space for you to ask questions about dementia and/or caregiving, to talk about your feelings, and to obtain information. Counsellors are trained professionals, who are knowledgeable about dementia and caregiving issues.

Who can access counselling?

Those who have questions about dementia, are concerned they may have dementia, have been diagnosed, or are caring for someone with dementia.

Is there a cost?

No. Counselling is available to you at no cost.

What are the benefits of counselling?

  • You can learn practical suggestions and strategies, which may help you to better understand and cope with your own or a family member’s dementia symptoms, and plan for the future.
  • You can discuss personal circumstances and feelings that you might be experiencing.
  • You can learn about community resources, such as support groups and adult day programs.
